Over the years, dentistry has mainly
focused on treating the results of dental disease, i.e. placing
silver fillings in cavities. Only by identifying and
controlling the underlying causes can we be effective in preventing
the destruction that subsequently occurs, such as frequent cavities,
worn, fractured or loose teeth, broken fillings, sore jaw muscles,
headaches, pain, popping, clicking or degeneration of the jaw
joints, to mention a few. Only by focusing on long-term oral
health strategies can we be successful in helping people keep their
teeth for a lifetime. These strategies ultimately help to
control the need for more extensive dental treatment as we get older
and also help to reduce future dental expenses. |

Before we recommend any particular treatment strategy, we want to
LISTEN and UNDERSTAND your goals, priorities and concerns about your
oral health. This follows with a comprehensive oral evaluation
of your current condition including oral cancer screening, teeth,
gums, jaw muscle and joints, occlusion (how your teeth fit
together), and esthetics. With this information, we can
co-develop, with you, a long-term strategy that fits your specific
oral health goals while taking into consideration any time or
financial concerns/limitations that may exist. By developing a
long-term strategy for your oral health, we can make quality the
constant and have time be the variable. Dr. Charles Mayo, one of
the founders of the Mayo Clinic, once stated, "The best interest of
the patient is the only interest to be considered." We
absolutely believe this principal! Your best interest, not the
interest of some insurance company, is our total concern. It
is important that you understand that the sole concern of the
insurance company is their "bottom line" and their stockholder - not
your oral health. As a result, we do not participate in any
managed care program. Our recommendations for your oral health
are not based on what your insurance company "will" or "will not"
cover. Rather, they are based on what is going to serve you
best in the long-term. WE feel strongly that you should be the
only one to choose the level of care that best serves you and your
long-term goals. |
